Please put on your headphones to fully immerse yourself in another one of my Walt Disney World memories. You will feel like you are in the Magic Kingdom with us as we get to ride the original Frontierland Attraction, one last time.
Today’s memory takes us back to a Wednesday morning in December 2021. In our previous memory, we had just finished enjoying an almost private piano performance by Mark at Casey’s Corner, then strolled through Adventureland and we are now heading for Splash Mountain.
We’ll join the memory as we enter the queue area. You will hear the riders’ screams as they splash down into the briar patch. Although it is December and the water effects are turned down, you’ll still hear the cannons fire a splash. You might even hear the Mark Twain Paddle Wheel in the distance as it makes its way around Tom Sawyer’s Island on the Rivers of America.
The posted wait time is 60 minutes, but I’ll shorten that through some editing, we will still get to hear some of the queue music and critter sounds as we make our way to the loading area. Finally, we board our boat and take our spot in the middle rows. The ride is fantastic, and most of the effects are in working order, at least as far as I can remember. We encountered a few log jams, which isn’t unusual for Splash Mountain. We got a little wet at the end, but it was a refreshing break from the midday heat.

After the ride, it was time for lunch. Thankfully we took advantage of the ability to order ahead from Pecos Bill’s to pick up as soon as we get off. This way, we didn’t miss out on too much ride time in the park and can get to our next attraction as soon as possible.
Once again, for that best experience, make sure you are wearing your favorite headphones to really place yourself in this binaural memory.
