Memory 017 – Maelstrom

Today’s episode was suggested to me by Roy of West Point, Mississippi. Today we visit Maelstrom. Today’s audio was recorded in December our anniversary trip to Disney, and is in binaural sound so headphones on again.

We’ll start out walking up to the building that houses the ride. If we look up and to the left we see a boat appear at the top of the falls as we’re walking through the doorway. Once inside, we see there’s no line, so we walk right up to the boats and hop in. The mural on our left as the warning spiel is repeated supposedly contains various famous Norwegian people (I don’t know any). Then the belt starts and we’re dispatched into the water. The boat makes the first turn and up the ramp we go towards the mask with one glowing eye. It transports us back in time to the history of Norway. As we reach the top of the lift, we pass some Vikings as they’re talking on a boat, then past another Viking blowing a horn. As we round a, we come face-to-face-to-face-to-face with a 3-headed troll that curses us, and sends our boat backwards over some falls, passing roaring polar bears, and towards those falls we saw as we passed through the doors to the ride. Suddenly the boat stops, teetering on the edge of the falls, and we of course look over your shoulder to see outside. Just then another troll appears and turns the boat around and sends us down into the North Sea where we pass under an oil rig, and finally we dock at a tranquil little town. We’ll spend a few minutes in the town till the doors open and we are ushered into the movie theatre. Shortly after we take our seats, the movie starts. Once it’s over we exit to our right and strait into a gift shop where you can buy sweaters in July. It’s just what I wanted.
