Memory 140 – A Day at Epcot: Part 9, Journey Into Imagination With Figment

Come and join us for another installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, where I try to make it possible for you relive your Walt Disney World Memories when you can’t actually be there. Today we’ll go catch a ride on a classic attraction, with our favorite little dragon Figment.

Well it seems like only yesterday we were just here catching a ride on Soarin’. Maybe cause it was. I don’t know how these podcasters do it, releasing a good product every week is so hard to me. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to do that, but the time commitment is enormous. Although truth be told, I think I would enjoy those escapes to Walt Disney World a lot, and maybe you would too. Let’s get to it then shall we?

For those just joining us, we’re spending a rainy day in Epcot. The crowds are light (a 3/10 on TouringPlans.com) and the rain has let up for now. We have just gotten off of Soarin’ and walked out of the Land Pavilion and are on our way next door to the Imagination Pavilion. The plan right now is to try to catch a ride on Journey Into Imagination with Figment and then sprint to the back of the park to catch the last showing of the Voices of Liberty.

As we enter the door to the attraction, the Cast Member at the front is having fun with the guests as they come in, asking them to play a game and be different animals. I know, it’s silly, but it’s just another one off those things you don’t just see at any old amusement parks, that freedom of a Cast Member to have fun with the guests while doing their job. There is no line to speak of, and we’ll be checking in at the other end of the queue as quickly as we can walk there. Our family takes up an entire car, so we’ll split up front and back, and be on our way.

I’m going to start changing up the format a little bit starting today. We’ll try and start the podcasts as we’re entering the queue or attraction area, and then for those that like the ambient walking around, I’ll leave that after the attraction. So for those that like it, just hang out and listen as we leave the attraction and head to our next destination but stop just short of getting on.

As this is the first time for the kids on Imagination, I was looking forward to seeing how the kids responded. This attraction used to be a huge family favorite, for what it promoted really. The new versions have destroyed some off what it was, but it is entertaining to children none the less. With the exception of the blast at the end, this attraction is great for kids, perfectly geared to them, and they understand everything that is going on.

Today’s memory is in binaural, so I’d suggest putting those headphones on to fully immerse yourself in the memory.
