Well I’m late again. I’m so sorry. This summer has been weird and crazy, but better late than never right? I’m getting excited though, my summer vacation is getting closer, and I’m trying to lock in a couple of days in the parks, and it sounds like my extended family might be joining s for a day in the park, and then we’ll get to do one by ourselves also. But that’s for another time, let’s get back to reliving our current Memory shall we?
So as I said, it’s a hot Sunday in June of 2012, you know those kind of days that make you sweat the moment you leave the air conditioning. In memory 168, I had arrived at the Magic Kingdom, and taken the Disney Transportation over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to experience some of the fun at Star Wars Weekends. We’ll rejoin the memory as I’ve made it through the turnstiles and just started walking up Hollywood Boulevard. I have one thing on my mind at this point. I know that when my family arrives later this week, this will change what I can do, since my kids are too little for most of the E-Ticket attractions, and since the long awaited Star Tours update has finally happened, this has to be my first stop.
We’ll make our way to the queue area, and for the first time I think since this attraction first opened I have to wait in the queue through the Ewok village. But this is a great audio experience, lots of John Williams great music, so we’ll probably not cut much out this time. The changes in the queue area are amazing. I’m actually kind of grateful for the line so I can enjoy the changes in the queue without feeling like I’m holding folks up. Finally, we’re next for the attraction. We’ve got our 3D glasses on, and have taken our seats in front of the new digital screen. The projection is crystal clear now, and this is already exciting, and then we take off.
I was a little bummed that our spy was a generic photo. Not sure if they just didn’t get someone picked in time or what, but I was sad that little joke was missed. But that’s my only complaint. This upgrade was amazing, and I do believe what was an old “I think I’ll try to ride this next time” became a “I must ride this next time” type of attraction, and I can’t wait till my kids are old enough to ride experience this attraction, but right now Muppets still terrorizes my son, so that may be a little while yet.
