Come and join us for another installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, where I try to make it possible for you relive your Walt Disney World Memories when you can’t actually be there. We will continue our day in Disney’s Hollywood Studios as we sprint from one side of Sunset Boulevard to the other and catch a ride on that giant gloomy tower at the end during an actual thunderstorm.

So yesterday I was listening to two of my favorite podcasts, Paul Barrie’s A Window to the Magic, and then Lou Mongello’s WDW Radio, and all I could think while listening was, I wish I was in Walt Disney World right now. These guys were recording live in the parks and I just found myself dreaming of being there with them, sitting in the sun and soaking up the sounds and smells all around me. Especially right now, after the stress of this election has hit it’s high note and begins to subside, a quick escape to our favorite place sounds like the perfect prescription. Since I can’t actually be there, let’s do the second best thing and slip into another memory shall we?
So as I said last time, it was a hot Sunday in June of 2012, you know those kind of days that make you melt the moment you leave the air conditioning. In memory 175, we had sprinted down Sunset Boulevard and into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster for a second ride as the storms were rolling in. As we exit the building, the storms are actually just beginning, and the rain is coming. I have a FastPass I picked up earlier for the Tower of Terror which I’m going to use right now, so I decide to just duck my head and run to get there as quick as possible. We’ll join the memory as I make it to the entrance to the queue and head inside. The wait is short of course because of the FastPass, and before I’ve really even caught my breath, we are inside the preshow area. As we exit the preshow, and begin to make our way up to our Maintenance Service Elevators, they are seeking single riders, and I get pulled to the front of the line, and just like that we’re on the ride. This is my favorite Walt Disney World attraction, hands down. The theming in the queue all the way to the ride transport you to a time and place that are so clear. You can’t help but be drawn in, and then on top of that, this ride is like no other in thrill level, and that alone takes it over the top.
Now sit back. Relax. Close your eyes. And come with me as I ride an elevator on a dark and stormy evening.
