Well hello and welcome back to the WDW-Memories Podcast where together we relive that Walt Disney World Magic. My name is Lou and I’ll once again be your host on this magical adventure. As Hurricane Dorian has been battering the Caribbean, I can’t help but think about how this time last year my family and I were on a Disney Cruise and enjoying the beauty of the Bahamas. And how just a year before we were at Walt Disney World and trying to come up with a early departure plan that would maximize our vacation time in Florida while not placing us in danger or making our return trip home miserable with traffic. All I can say is my family and I are praying for those impacted by Hurricane Dorian currently, and that I hope all are safe through the storms. Speaking of Walt Disney World, anyone else see how empty it is there? Oh how I wish it was like that all the time, but at least as time moves on, my memory of the crowds tends to fade and all I remember are the fun attractions and encounters throuhout our trip, things like today’s memory of Mission: SPACE with my kids.

So we’re joining today’s memory as the family just finished a record wait for us for Test Track and are splitting up again. My sister is going to take her son back onto Test Track, my dad will be staying with my niece who is sleeping, and me and my family are going to go next door for a quick ride on Mission: SPACE for a ride on the Green Team. We’ll quickly make our way into the pavilion, and through the queue, which has no line at this point. We’ll have to hold for a minute in the hall just before being let into the pre-show briefing area and then we’re ushered to our simulator and warned a couple more times about motion and small spaces. Finally we’re allowed to enter our flight simulator and it’s our turn. After our flight around the earth, we exit and my wife has an “A Ha” moment and realizes that all the simulation is just forward, backward, and side-to-side, and suddenly the sickness fear fades and she can enjoy the attraction. It’s funny how your mind can control how you feel isn’t it. Maybe you are like her, and if you just think that it’s just tilting you around, then you too can enjoy this attraction.

I know Green is far less intense than the Orange team, but we have loved the Green each time we’ve gone. The kids enjoy that launch feeling, and the parents enjoy pointing out landmarks and maybe even using the few moments to show something need about our world. Maybe next trip we’ll try Orange… maybe.

Today’s memory is in binaural once again, so I’d suggest putting those headphones on to fully immerse yourself in the memory.

Now enjoy another relaxing trip around the Earth as we continue our morning in Epcot.
