Take a virtual audio trip in this installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, brought to you in immersive binaural / 3D / spatial sound, experiencing another magical memory from Walt Disney World. In today’s memory, you will be transported to the parks, and be there with us as we go for a train ride in the cartoon countryside with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, and Pluto.

I pray everyone had a great holiday season filled with happiness and memories. I was able to spend time with extended family, see living history in the United States, and getting to enjoy the holiday offerings at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It’s not Disney, but we all loved it. I grew up visiting this park a couple times a year, and it was great to share it with my kiddos.

Before we jump into the memory though, I have a bit of housekeeping to get to. First off, I wanted to make sure you knew you could connect with me on Facebook once again. You can find the show at Facebook.com/WDWMemoriesPodcast. Secondly, I have new and easier ways to become a recurring supporter. In addition to my offering on Patreon, if you listen on Spotify, you can become a recurring supporter there. And as of a couple of weeks ago, I have set up the option to become a supporter on Apple Podcasts, where I even offer a discount for annual supporters. All three options will receive things like early access to shows and ad-free memories as my thank-you gift to you for helping to keep the magic happening. Just take a look at the app you’re listening to or go to WDW-Memories.net/Support. With that out of the way, let’s get into today’s memory.

As we get into today’s memory, you’ll need to imagine it’s a warm Monday in December 2021. It’s mid-afternoon, and we’ve had an amazing day so far in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Next up though is a new attraction that we have never experienced before.

If you remember in Memory 293 (before our special Christmas memory), our family had just finished watching the Muppets and all their mayhem in 3D and were excited to try something new. We’ve made our way back towards the center of the park and as we join the memory we are in the queue as it wraps around the front of the Chinese Theater and about to enter inside where we’ll get to ride Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The line is long and slow-moving but at least it’s not full sun outside. Soon we’re inside the building, but the air conditioning is not as strong as we would have hoped, so it isn’t as much relief. Every now and then though, you’ll hear us round a corner and stop in front of a vent that is blowing cool air, and we’ll enjoy it before moving on. Eventually, we’re shown into the screening room where we’re introduced to the new Mickey Mouse short before, well, things go a little wrong. Once we exit the ride, we realize we are nearing the end of our list of attractions we wanted to do, so we pick our next one on the list and head in that direction.

As I said earlier, today’s memory is in binaural once again. So for the best experience, I would recommend putting on your favorite headphones to fully immerse yourself in the memory.

Now that you have your headphones on, join me as we hang on to our runaway railway car and laugh our way through the cartoon countryside for the very first time.
