It has been a busy few months for me. During the holidays, I spent a lot of time with my family and recently we celebrated my dad’s milestone birthday. He used to take us to Disney World when we were kids, which sparked my love for the Disney Parks and led to this hobby of podcasting. Happy Birthday, Dad! Today’s memory took a lot of editing to close out our day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So between all the celebrations and editing, it took longer to produce than normal. With it behind me though, I intend to resume my regular cadence of releases, but for now, let’s dive into today’s memory.

Today’s memory takes us back to a Tuesday evening in December 2021. As you may recall from our last memory before Christmas, we had just finished exploring the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trails and were trying to figure out how we wanted to finish our day.

We’ll join the memory as we start our journey from Africa to Pandora – The World of Avatar, and we know it’s going to be a long walk. We’re a bit tired, so we decide to take it slow and enjoy the park. As we’re walking out of Africa, we spot Dole Whips and stop for a quick sugar boost before continuing our journey. The line for Flight of Passage doesn’t look too bad. When we reach the outdoor queue, we see that the wait time is posted as an 80-minute wait, but Touring Plans predicted only 60. So to pass the time, we use the Play Disney app on our phones and decide where to eat after the ride as well as planning our next day in the Magic Kingdom.

After waiting in the queue for an hour, we realize that the wait time is going to be longer than expected. The ride is running at lower capacity because someone got sick, which is why the wait time almost doubled. Finally, we’re shown to our briefing room, paired with our avatars, and then shown to our banshees. As we exit the attraction, we’re thrilled and declare it the best attraction in Walt Disney World.

The landscape of Pandora is glowing all around us, and we stop to take photos of the waterfalls and the amazing colors. We find the drums and play with them to see how they impact the lights in the rocks. We also find that giant flowering pod and pet it until it sprays water. We then start making our way out of the park, saying goodbye to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, knowing we will be back in four days. We covered a lot in this episode, but I’ve trimmed it down so you can recognize all those different moments as we experienced them.

So again, for that best experience, make sure you are wearing your favorite headphones to really place yourself in this binaural memory.
