Memory 154 – A Day at Epcot 2: Part 5, Test Track

Come and join us for another installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, where I try to make it possible for you relive your Walt Disney World Memories when you can’t actually be there. In this episode, we will continue our day in Epcot as we have left the Mexico Pavilion and are waiting now outside Test Track in hopes that they reopen.

Podcast Type: Binaural Audio
Podcast Length: 53:07

I have debated how to open this memory. It seems like today, my heart is heavy because of the world we are living in. There is so much death and destruction going on in the world around us that a good escape from reality is necessary. A vacation to the place where we all were happy and our days were filled with smiles and laughter. Vacations should do that, and the vacation kingdom is a perfect place to escape to. So if you’re like me, and don’t actually have the vacation time to travel to Walt Disney World, let’s at lease slip away for 30 minutes virtually and enjoy another memory in Epcot shall we?

Let me set the stage. It’s a Monday at the end of January 2015, and my whole family has traveled to Orlando for a week vacation to celebrate my Dad’s milestone birthday. The bright and breezy sunny day has given way to a cool calm night. The crowds are light to moderate (a 5/10 on TouringPlans.com) but in this park that still isn’t bad.

In memory 153, we helped chase down Señor Donald as we traveled across Mexico. Once we got outside of the Mexico pavilion, we decided to head up to Future World and try to catch a ride on Test Track, the kids favorite ride in Epcot. However, as you remember, just as we walked up to the building, we realized the ride was down, and a crowd was waiting outside. Just as we were beginning to decide if we should stay or go, some test cars began running around the building. Lucky for us, we didn’t leave and as we join the memory, the lines will open again, and we’ll be let in.

We’ll make our way through the queue, but because all those fast passes have been waiting outside also, they were let in for quite a while as we in standby waited patiently. Finally we’re let in to create our car, Susie and Traci at one kiosk, and Mikey, my dad, and I at the other. It’s so much fun to hear the kids discussing the cars they just finished creating, they were so excited. After a few minutes in the new queue, we’re finally in the loading area and let into the car. We’ll split up, Susie, Mikey, and Traci in the front, Dad and I in the back. As we climb in, we buckle up and before we know it, we’re rolling.

After we finish our ride, we’ decide once again where to next. Do we head over to our other favorite ride, Soarin’ or do we try to catch something else? We’ll just have to see where we end up next time.

Today’s memory is in binaural, so I’d suggest putting those headphones on to fully immerse yourself in the memory.

Now sit back. Relax. Close your eyes. And come with me as we take a fast ride around Future World in our custom created car.
