Memory 110 – Reliving a day at the Magic Kingdom: Part 2, Ferryboat And Meet Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater

Alright I’m done with the snow already. Yesterday was the first time I actually took off for snow here this year, but it’s really starting to wear on me. So much so that I have talked my wife into a spring trip to our favorite warm destination Florida, and probably a day at Walt Disney World, specifically to Epcot for the Flower and Garden Festival. I can’t wait. I’m looking forward to the warmth of the sun, the smell of the flowers, and the hopefully lower crowds the first week of March (Touring Plans has it at like a 5 that week).

But for now we’re going back to our day at the Magic Kingdom series as we continue our morning.

Today’s memory is the continuation of our most recent trip in September of 2013. Remember, it’s a quiet day (a 3/10 on Touring Plans). In Memory 109, we parked the car, hopped on the tram to the TTC, got tickets and decided on our first attraction: the Ferryboat to the Magic Kingdom. Traci and I have the kids heading quickly towards the boat docks, just so we don’t miss another option for getting us to the parks. The park opened at 9 today, and it’s already 9:30 so we’re a little behind, but this shouldn’t affect us too much. We’ll quickly head for the ferryboat and make it on with a few minutes to spare.

Because I have the stroller open, we stay downstairs this time and just get a spot next to an opening where the kids can see out while seated in the stroller. The boat will push off and we gently glide across the Seven Seas Lagoon to the Magic Kingdom. We’ll get through Bag Check and with only a little problem with the new RFID ticketing system, enter the park pretty quickly. Then it’s decision time again. My Lines app from Touring Plans suggests that I head to the back of the new Fantasyland, so we see the train in the station and try to make it. Unfortunately, it takes off before we get there, so we’re going to walk. At this point though I notice that the Meet Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater is only a 10 minute wait, so we decide to deviate from the plan slightly and go here.

We’ll wait in line for our turn to meet Mickey Mouse, take our turn to shake hands, give a kiss and a hug, and take a picture, and we’re done. This will also be our breaking point for Part 2, and we’ll have to pick it back up in part 3.

Today’s memory is in binaural, so I’d still suggest putting those headphones on to fully immerse yourself in the memory.
