Memory 111 – Reliving a day at the Magic Kingdom: Part 3, Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid and Meet Ariel at Her Grotto

Come and join us for another installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, where I try to make it possible for you relive your Walt Disney World Memories when you can’t actually be there.

One more week and I’m off to Florida. Traci and I have decided to take advantage of two small children and no school commitments yet and are heading to Florida for some fun in the sun. That means more days in the parks that we’ll get to relive together. Even more exciting, we’re venturing outside the Magic Kingdom on this trip. We’re planning to spend two days this time, day one (March 4) will be at the Magic Kingdom and day two (March 6) will be at Epcot. Our day at the Magic Kingdom is supposed to be a 5 according to Touring Plans, but we’ll do what we can to reduce our waits by using the Lines app by Touring Plans, and we should actually get some good use out of it this time. Our day at Epcot however should be even easier as Touring Plans has it as a 3 on their crowd calendar, meaning we shouldn’t have to wait too much. The main reason for Epcot this time though is Flower and Garden festival which we haven’t been to since 2005, so Traci and Susie are super excited about this one. We might even be able to get Grandma and Grandpa to join us for this one.

So as you can see plans are coming together fast and furious. In the mean time, we’ll go continue our day in the Magic Kingdom. This time we’ll go see Ariel in all of her forms at the Magic Kingdom.

Today’s memory is the continuation of our most recent trip in September of 2013. Remember, it’s a quiet day (a 3/10 on TouringPlans.com).

In Memory 110, we made it across the Seven Seas Lagoon and into the Magic Kingdom. Then we made a right turn and went to shake hands and give a hug to Mickey Mouse.

We’ll pick back up as we were leaving the Meet Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater. We’ll begin by making our way up Main Street USA towards Cinderella’s Castle. Like any good trip, we stop for a quick photo in front of the castle and then continue our walk back into Fantasyland.

As we round Cinderella’s Castle, we are greeted by the shiny and new Fantasyland in all it’s glory. The land looks beautiful, except for all the still existing constructions walls. We slowly continue our way towards the back and pause to watch a musical troupe who are entertaining a little girl and her family at this point. When the finish their set we continue on our way towards the back of Fantasyland, intending to find the fastpass for Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. We shortly realize the fastpass distribution is all the way back at Mickey’s Philharmagic so we decide to just go ahead and ride it now.

We park the stroller, stop for a quick photo with the ship outside, and continue inside to ride the ride. Our wait in the queue area is only as long as it takes to walk it, so before we know it we’re climbing into our clamshell. Immediately as you see Scuttle, you realize it’s not going to be just an ordinary dark ride.

After we complete the ride, we decide to do the complete Ariel experience and walk next door to Meet Ariel at Her Grotto and within minutes again we’re face to face with the Little Mermaid. Susie runs right up to her, but Mikey’s a little hesitant (this is one of the first times with a princess yet), but she is charming and in seconds he’s sitting right next to her. We grab a couple of quick photos and say good bye before we head off to our next destination.

This again will be where we’ll end this memory, and we’ll pick up next time with more fun from the Magic Kingdom.
