Take a virtual audio trip in this installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, brought to you in immersive binaural / 3D / spatial sound, experiencing another magical memory from Walt Disney World. In today’s memory, you will be transported to the parks, and be there with us as we try to help the rebels sneak a spy to their base as we tour the galaxy.

So who is ready for Christmas? No? Me neither. I mean, I’m excited that it’s coming up, but I’m not prepared. Here in Kentucky, the weather has been cold or rainy with thunderstorms, and we haven’t finished decorating the outside of the house yet. But inside, the tree is up and it’s beginning to feel a bit more festive, which we love. I even love that the memories we’ve been reliving are from the holiday time (almost 1 year ago exactly to the release of this memory), so it really puts me back in that happy place. I’m ready to go, so let’s get to it.

To set up the memory, it’s a warm Monday in December 2021. It’s mid-afternoon, and we’ve had an amazing day so far in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, getting to see and do some things we have never done before. Next up, we’re going to again expand the kid’s universe and take them to Star Tours.

If you remember in Memory 291, we waited in a long line for Toy Story Mania! and had a great time challenging each other to see who is the best shot. After exiting the ride, and comparing scores, we want a quick treat. We find a Cast Member to find out where we can pick up a Mickey Bar or other frozen treat. There happens to be one on our way over to Star Tours, so we’ll stop, pick up the ice cream and continue on our way through the park toward the attraction. We actually get to the queue before we finish our ice creams, so we do a little walking around before we get in line and head over to the Indiana Jones stunt show because I thought I heard a boom (they were still closed as the retooled the show to allow for more distancing there too). Unfortunately, it’s still closed with planters out front, so we head back and get in line for Star Tours. The line is longer than I’m used to seeing it, but it doesn’t really stop. We’re actually queued up in the trees, so we’ll hear some of the drums and that AT-AT walker as we make our way toward the front door. Inside, it’s a pretty quick pace through the maintenance work R2D2 and C3PO are doing before we see the baggage check scanners. But we don’t even get to enjoy watching them for long before we are assigned a row, the doors open, and we are taking our seats. Mikey’s still a little skittish about what might be coming so I have to share more of the story before getting on, but he’s ok. As we take off though, the rebel spy is sitting right next to me. Yep, Susie got selected, so you’ll hear us talking about that as we exit. After the ride is over, we head back out into the heat and try to find our next adventure.

As I said earlier, today’s memory is in binaural once again. So for the best experience, I would recommend putting on your favorite headphones to fully immerse yourself in the memory.

Now that you have your headphones on, join me as we relive a trip through the galaxy aboard Star Tours – The Adventures Continue.
